Quick Start: Minimal Setup to Publish a Product
Quick Start: Minimal Setup to Publish a Product

Overview

Getting your first experience or event live on Spotinga is a straightforward process designed to minimize technical friction. This guide focuses on the essential configuration path required to move your product from an initial “Draft” to an “Open” status. You will start by establishing the product’s identity and category, ensuring it is correctly indexed for your customers. Crucially, you must define a valid price plan for your default store and link a functional availability schedule to enable real-time bookings. While many descriptive fields are optional, adding at least one high-resolution photo and clear inclusions will significantly enhance the professional appeal of your listing. By following these focused steps, you can quickly launch your brand and begin accepting reservations without getting bogged down in advanced settings.

Setup Guide

Step 1: Select Your Product Type

When you create a new product, you are first presented with the Product Type selection screen.

  • Choices: Typically “Experience” (for tours/activities) or “Event” (for fixed-date occurrences).
  • Warning: Once you select a type and save, you cannot change it later. Choose carefully.

If you have a product similar to one you’ve already created, use the Clone feature. This will copy all content, pricing structures, and media to a new draft, allowing you to simply update the title and specific details rather than starting from scratch.

Step 2: Basic Information

Navigate to the Basic-Info tab. This is the identity of your product.

  • Title: Enter a descriptive name. This is a mandatory field.
  • Category: Select at least one category so customers can find your product in search filters.
  • SEO URL (Slug): The system auto-generates this from your title. If you change your title later, click the Refresh button next to the slug field to update the search-friendly URL.

Step 3: Define Pricing

Go to the Price tab. A product cannot be “Open” without a valid price plan.

  • Passenger Options: In the left column, define who can book (e.g., “Adult”).
  • Price Plan: In the right column, create a plan for your Default Store.
  • Amount: Enter the Selling Price. Ensure the currency matches your store’s requirements.

Step 4: Set Availability

Navigate to the Availability tab to define when you operate.

  • Link Schedule: Choose a pre-defined schedule (e.g., “Summer 2024”).
  • Booking Mechanism: For most experiences, select Date & Time.
  • Add Slots: Add at least one start time (e.g., 09:00 AM) and set the Inventory (capacity).

Step 5: Essential Content

Switch to the Content tab. While many fields are optional, the following are recommended for a professional look:

  • Media: Upload at least one high-resolution photo (1200px wide, 16:9 ratio).
  • Inclusions: Add at least one item to let guests know what they are paying for.

Step 6: Changing Status to “Open”

Once the minimal data above is entered, navigate to the Basic-Info tab.

  • Status Toggle: Look for the Status dropdown or toggle.
  • Set to Open: Change the value from Draft to Open.
  • Final Save: Click the primary Save button in the bottom footer.

Troubleshooting “Open” Status

If the system prevents you from saving or opening the product, check the following:

  1. Missing Title: The title is the only strictly required field for the database, but “Open” status requires pricing.
  2. No Store Assigned: Ensure at least one store is selected in the Basic-Info tabs.
  3. Unsaved Changes: If you see a “Cancel” button instead of “Done” in the footer, you have unsaved edits. Click Save manually to ensure all tabs are synchronized.

Previewing Your Work

Before you share the link, click the Preview button in the top toolbar. This opens a maximized dialog showing exactly what the customer will see on the storefront, including your photos, itinerary, and the booking calendar.
