Offers, Promo Codes & Links

Overview

An offer is what a partner’s audience gets — a discount or a perk. A promo code is how they get it: each partner makes their own code on your offer, so every booking is credited to the right partner. Links carry the code to checkout automatically, and also earn without one.

Creating an offer

Open Distribution → Offers (the same screen as Pops → Settings → Discounts & Offers) and create a Promo code offer:

  • Type — Price off (a percentage or an amount) or Perk (a free drink, an upgrade…). For a perk, enter its cost to you; partners and customers never see it, and it is used in your reports.
  • Products — every product, or chosen ones.
  • Hidden or public — a hidden offer is only known to your partners. A public one is shown on the product page as “10% off with a promo code”, but still needs a code at checkout.
  • Limits — total uses across all codes, and uses per customer. A new offer starts at one use per customer.
  • Your own code — optional: a code in your name for flyers, radio or anything without a partner. Nobody earns commission on it.

Distribution must be open to partners for them to see your offers.

:::info Perks appear on the booking When a customer books with a perk code, the perk appears on the booking, the confirmation email and the invoice, so your staff know to honour it. It is not yet printed on the ticket. :::

Partner codes

Partners make their own codes from an offer — the system suggests one from their name and the offer, like DYLAN20 or DYLANDRINK. Codes are 4–15 letters and digits, unique within your business, and a list of restricted words is refused.

In Distribution → Codes you see every code, whose it is, and its bookings. You can:

  • Add Code for a partner — handy when you want to hand them a ready code;
  • Pause a code to stop it applying at checkout, and resume it later;
  • Delete a code that has never been used. A code with bookings can only be paused.

How a customer uses a code

The customer follows the partner’s short link and lands on the product with the code already applied — or types the code on the product page or at checkout. The code applies to the lines it covers, before tax. After payment, the booking is credited to the partner and appears in Conversions.

Links

Every link a partner makes carries their partner reference, so a booking through it is credited to them even without a code — on the lines the customer did not use a code for. A code on a line always wins over a link for that line.

Operator-made links (under Advanced → Links) are for special cases, such as a link with its own commission plan.

Changing and retiring offers

Switch an offer off to pause it: it stops applying at checkout and partners cannot make new codes on it. Switch it on again at any time.

Once any booking has used an offer, it cannot be deleted, cannot lose products, and its own code cannot be changed — so past bookings and reports stay correct. Every change is recorded in the offer’s History.

Keep one simple, generous offer for everyone, and add a second, richer offer for the partners who bring the most bookings. A perk often costs you far less than the same value as a discount.
